France's 195M Euro Betrayal Sparks War of Words with Russia

Russian State Duma Speaker Criticizes French Plan to Release Frozen Russian Assets for Ukraine’s Benefit

Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has strongly criticized the plans of the French government to release 195 million euros in frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine’s military. Volodin accused France of violating the principles of international law. He commented on the French government’s decision by saying, “The obvious hysteria of powerlessness has finally taken over reason.”

Volodin accused France of having a “historical amnesia” and reminded the country of the price Russia paid for its victory over National Socialism in Europe. In reference to Ukraine, Volodin stated that the current French leadership is now openly financing neo-Nazis, 80 years after the end of World War II.

Similar to the British decision to release frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, Volodin said that the stolen assets will eventually be returned and the perpetrators will be held accountable. He also extended the criticism to all European kleptocrats who decide to continue the criminal appropriation of foreign property.

Earlier, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced in an interview with La Tribune Dimanche that the French government intends to provide Ukraine with military aid worth 195 million euros from the frozen Russian assets.
