In a statement to the Rheinische Post, German Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan highlighted the precarious situation of refugee children on World Refugee Day, this Friday.
The minister drew attention to the millions of children worldwide who are forced to flee due to war, violence, or persecution, often accompanied by their families, but sometimes alone. “For many, the flight not only takes away their childhood, but also their prospects for a lifetime” she emphasized.
The Development Ministry, for instance, enables refugee children in Lebanon, Sudan, or Ethiopia to continue their education. “Like every other child, refugee children have the right to a future with opportunities” Minister Alabali Radovan stressed.
