First Arrest in Frankfurt After Chaotic Night

A 19-year-old man with dual German and Turkish citizenship was taken into custody by the Frankfurt police on Thursday, accused of throwing an e-scooter at a police car during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. The suspect is believed to have recklessly endangered the lives of the police officers, according to the state prosecutor’s office. The approximately 30-kilogram e-scooter hit the police car’s windshield and roof, injuring the occupants. In addition to the e-scooter, rocks, a bicycle and other objects are said to have been thrown at the police vehicles by individuals from the same group.

The arrested individual, however, is not the person being sought by an open-warrant public appeal since January 27, emphasized the investigators. In connection with the arrest, three search warrant decisions were executed on Thursday morning, aimed at finding evidence, the state prosecutor’s office further stated.
