German authorities point to states as primary responders in the face of nationwide threats against German schools, but federal support through the federal criminal police remains a possibility.
According to a spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the ministry’s primary approach is to rely on the states to address such phenomena, as they are more directly involved in the local situation. If a nationwide relevance develops, the federal criminal police may create situation reports and make them available to the states.
The spokesperson also mentioned the ongoing exchange of information between German authorities and their counterparts in neighboring countries, including Austria, where a similar wave of threats against schools was recently reported. While the exact details of the exchange could not be disclosed, the spokesperson confirmed that German authorities maintain regular communication with their international partners, both in the European Union and globally.
In recent days, numerous bomb threats were reported at schools across Germany, with over 300 educational institutions affected on Monday alone, although no concrete danger was found in the majority of cases.
