German authorities have brought charges against seven individuals, including six alleged members and one supporter of a left-extremist criminal organization, in a case that involves multiple violent attacks targeting individuals perceived to be part of the right-wing scene.
According to the indictment, the accused are suspected of participating in numerous violent assaults, as well as attempted murder, document forgery, severe theft and property damage. The organization, allegedly founded in and around Leipzig in late 2017 or early 2018, is said to have shared a militant left-extremist ideology and rejected the democratic rule of law.
One of the accused, along with a previously convicted individual, held a prominent position within the organization, the indictment reveals. The document describes several attacks, including incidents in Wurzen, Leipzig-Connewitz, Dessau-Roßlau and Eisenach, in which victims were severely injured with clubs and other weapons. Some of the accused are currently in pre-trial detention, while others are at large.
