The Free Democratic Party (FDP) intends to utilize its period in extra-parliamentary opposition as an opportunity to develop a revised core program. According to an internal presentation from the program committee, unveiled on Saturday and reported by “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, the party plans to actively solicit input from a broad range of citizens.
The FDP is initiating a “participation phase” slated to begin in August. This phase extends beyond party members, aiming to engage all interested parties in a dialogue about the party’s future direction. The presentation outlines plans for proactive outreach, including engaging with citizens in public spaces and utilizing modern communication methods such as voice message submissions, similar to those used on platforms like WhatsApp.
To manage and analyze the anticipated influx of public feedback, the FDP is employing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. An open-source solution, originating from Taiwan, is currently being developed to process submissions. The AI tool is designed to identify recurring themes and extract guiding principles from the collected data, facilitating discussion among FDP representatives for incorporation into the revised core program.
Future policy positions will also be openly debated at public events. The party’s program committee emphasizes the importance of active listening as a key element of this process. The initiative aims to serve as a model for contemporary political participation and demonstrate the party’s commitment to technological innovation.
