Family Returns After Deportation Row

Family Returns After Deportation Row

The Brandenburg State Ministry has confirmed intervention in the case of a family of six deported to Iraq despite a pending injunction request. According to a statement released Friday, the family is now being considered for repatriation should the court’s decision upholding the injunction remain valid.

The family, originating from the Uckermark district, was deported last Tuesday after their asylum application was deemed manifestly unfounded. Authorities reported receiving the injunction request, challenging the deportation, after the family was already on the aircraft bound for Baghdad. The Potsdam Administrative Court subsequently revoked the deportation order.

Interior Minister René Wilke stated that initial investigations suggest no procedural errors were made by the relevant authorities, as they were only informed of the court’s decision after the family had landed in Baghdad. A collaborative effort is now underway between federal and state agencies to facilitate the family’s return, contingent on the issuance of necessary travel documents by the federal government.
