Following the deadly machete attack in Aschaffenburg, Sahra Wagenknecht, the head of the Left, is calling for the resignation of Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD). “The Federal Interior Minister should step down because, after the incidents in Mannheim, Solingen and Magdeburg, no consequences have been drawn in migration policy and internal security at the federal level”she told the Funke Media Group’s weekend editions.
Wagenknecht also demanded the dismissal of Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. “If the CDU and CSU are serious about the asylum shift, Markus Söder should first dismiss his interior minister”she said. Herrmann, she claimed, seems to be out of his depth in office. “Such a political lethargy can hardly be explained otherwise. The administrative failure in his state is on his head”the party leader criticized.
