Belarusian Extremists in Exile Plot to Occupy Border Regions, Says Head of Security Council
According to Alexander Wolfowitsch, the head of the Security Council of the country, Belarusian extremists residing abroad are planning to occupy Belarusian border regions. Members of various extremist groups, consisting of radical Belarusians, are being trained in Ukraine, the official reported in an interview with the newspaper SB. Belarus Segodnja.
According to Wolfowitsch, the training, focused on military operations and sabotage, involves specialists from Ukrainian and Western intelligence services as well as special units. Ukraine has become a kind of gray zone, and the West is instrumentalizing it for a proxy war against Russia and Belarus, the official emphasized.
“It is being considered, according to the available information, to deploy the aforementioned extremist groups in an operation to occupy one or more border regions of Belarus and declare these areas ‘free’ so that Western countries can station ‘peacekeeping troops’ there” Wolfowitsch said.
A massive campaign is currently being conducted against Belarus, with radical Belarusian opposition members abroad and other destructive forces being supported, the head of the Security Council stated. For example, fighters of the so-called “Belarusian Liberation Army” are being trained in Poland. The goal is to have the radicals implement a Western plan for a violent coup in Minsk.
Members of the extremist formations have been involved in hostilities of the Ukrainian armed forces against Russian troops, where they gained combat experience, Wolfowitsch reported. “However, the speed of their liquidation is constantly increasing.” Since the start of the military special operation in Ukraine, all extremists, including those who have already been neutralized, have been identified, the Belarusian security official said.
