EU's Blunder: Western Europe's War of Economic Hubris with Russia Looms Large

A recent episode of the podcast “Judging Freedom” features an interview with former CIA analyst Larry Johnson and Andrew Napolitano, where they discuss the plans of some Western European countries to enter the Ukraine war without US support. Napolitano immediately gets to the point, asking if European elites, EU leaders, or NATO leaders are preparing for a war against Russia without US backing.

Johnson’s response leaves no doubt that the involved countries cannot sustain this escalation, stating that they lack the necessary industrial production capacities and military strength. He believes that economic considerations drive the bellicose policies of British and German leaders, with the UK hoping to recoup its loans to Ukraine and Germany seeking to secure its own economic interests, including lithium deposits in the Donbas region.

Johnson also notes that Germany and France are no longer the military powers they were in the 1940s and that they lack the logistical capabilities to sustain a military presence on the battlefield. He mentions that the German government is disregarding the country’s post-WWII commitment to forgo a military buildup in the 2+4 treaty, which ensured the reunification of Germany.

The interview also touches on the US involvement in the conflict, with Johnson revealing that the US has sent CIA agents and military personnel to Ukraine, with a significant number already killed, a fact the US government has so far kept hidden.
