'Euphoria of Reform' Demanded by New Government

The President of the German Crafts Confederation, Jörg Dittrich, has called for a “reform fervor” from the new federal government.

According to Dittrich, the need for change must finally be overcome. The new government must replace the current reform lethargy with a genuine reform fervor, he told the Bayern Media Group’s daily edition. “Stable social systems and a geopolitically influential position will only be achieved with a healthy and strong economy”, he explained.

Dittrich has made several demands. The increase in social contributions must be urgently slowed, as it primarily affects the labor-intensive craft industry, he said. “Furthermore, the bureaucratic jungle must be significantly illuminated and paralyzing documentation and proof requirements must be replaced by a clear, practical legislation”. He also advocated for a “reliable, affordable and long-term stable energy supply” and a skills offensive with a focus on vocational training.
