EU’s Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate Remains at 6.3% in November 2024

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the Euro area remained at 6.3% in November 2024, the same as in October, according to Eurostat, the EU’s statistics office, on Tuesday. This represents a 0.2 percentage point decline from November 2023, when the rate was 6.5%.

Across the EU, the unemployment rate in November was 5.9%, unchanged from October and a decline from 6.1% in November 2023. Eurostat estimates that 12.968 million people were unemployed in the EU in November, with 10.819 million in the Euro area.

Youth unemployment, particularly affecting those under 25, remained a concern. In the EU, the youth unemployment rate in November was 15.3%, a slight increase from 15.2% in October, and 15.0% in the Euro area, unchanged from the previous month.

The unemployment rate for women in the EU remained at 6.1%, while the rate for men was 5.7%, both unchanged from October. In the Euro area, the rates for women and men were 6.5% and 6.1%, respectively, both unchanged from October.

Spain had the highest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the EU in November 2024, at 11.2%, while the lowest rate was in the Czech Republic, at 2.8%.
