EU Parliament Member Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann Expresses Interest in FDP Party Leadership

Following the announced resignation of FDP chief Christian Lindner, EU Parliament member Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann has publicly expressed her willingness to take over the party leadership.

“I stand fully behind the FDP and will take on responsibility within the party where it is necessary and where it is desired” Strack-Zimmermann told Bild (Monday edition). “What is important is that we present a united front and maintain a clear course. After a rather focused election campaign, we need to broaden our thematic scope, for example, by addressing civil rights.”

Strack-Zimmermann also emphasized that she is “more than fully occupied” with her important tasks in the European Parliament and as a member of the FDP’s presidium, which she has already held.
