Elversberg Upsets Hertha Nürnberg Paderborn Draw

SV Elversberg secured a notable victory Friday evening, defeating Hertha BSC 2-0 in a 2. Bundesliga fixture, while 1. FC Nürnberg and SC Paderborn 07 played to a scoreless draw.

At Berlin’s Olympiastadion, Younes Ebnoutalib put the visitors ahead early in the match, scoring in the 5th minute. Elversberg continued to control the tempo throughout, extending their lead after the break with a second goal from Ebnoutalib in the 59th minute. Hertha appeared largely uninspired and their difficulties were compounded by a red card shown to Linus Gechter in the 77th minute, leaving them without a win in four league matches.

The encounter between Nürnberg and Paderborn proved to be a closely contested affair with chances for both sides. Paderborn briefly believed they had taken the lead through Steffen Tigges, but the goal was disallowed following a video assistant referee (VAR) review for offsides. Both teams pressed for a winner in the closing stages, but ultimately the game finished 0-0.

The results leave Hertha at the foot of the table, while Elversberg celebrate their third win of the season. Nürnberg remain winless but have secured their first point of the campaign.
