A German political party, the “Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht” (BSW), has expressed doubts about the integrity of the recent federal election, following its failure to clear the 5% threshold with a result of 4,972%. In a newsletter sent to supporters, the party claims to have received numerous reports indicating irregularities during the voting process.
According to the newsletter, the party has received complaints from German expatriates who were unable to cast their votes due to technical issues and bureaucratic mistakes. Additionally, some voters have come forward, stating that they voted for the BSW at their polling station, but the party’s vote count was listed as zero in the official results. This phenomenon is often accompanied by a higher than expected vote share for the “Bündnis Deutschland” party, which appeared on the ballot alongside the BSW in some cases.
The BSW suggests that transmission errors might be at play and is calling on its supporters to report such incidents, providing the polling station number and name. The party appears to be considering legal action to challenge the results or demand a re-count of the ballots. The party’s founder, Sahra Wagenknecht, had earlier hinted at this possibility, questioning the legal validity of the election outcome.
