French forward Hugo Ekitiké has departed Eintracht Frankfurt after a year and a half, completing a transfer to Liverpool Football Club, effective immediately. The move was confirmed by Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening.
Initially arriving in Frankfurt on a loan basis in February 2024, Ekitiké’s contract was made permanent in April of the same year, originating from Paris Saint-Germain. His previous agreement with Frankfurt was set to run until 2029.
During the second half of the 2023/24 season, the attacker featured in 16 matches, scoring four goals and contributing two assists. He rapidly developed into a key player for the team in the subsequent season. Ekitiké’s significant contribution, totaling 23 goal involvements in the Bundesliga, seven in the Europa League and four in the DFB-Pokal, played a crucial role in securing Eintracht Frankfurt’s third-place finish, qualification for the Champions League and progression to the Europa League quarter-finals. Across his time with the club, he participated in a total of 64 matches, scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists.
“Hugo has made a fantastic development during his year and a half with us and was a real asset to our team and the entire club, both on and off the pitch” stated Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sporting Director Markus Krösche. “We are delighted that he can now take the next step – a step he has earned through his performances with us”.
