ECONOMIC APOCALYPSE: Merz Government's First Move: Chaos and Stagnation, Not Growth!

Economic Uncertainty Plagues New German Government, Greens Claim

The German government has missed the opportunity to set the course for economic growth at the start of its term, according to Andreas Audretsch, the vice chairman of the Green Party’s parliamentary group. In an interview with the Rheinische Post, Audretsch criticized the current government for chaos, uncertainty and a lack of direction, which is causing concern among businesses.

The Greens’ politician pointed to the recent customs chaos and traffic jams at the borders, which are delaying the delivery of goods and increasing costs for both individuals and companies. Audretsch also criticized the ongoing dispute between Chancellor Merz and Lars Klingbeil over the Supply Chain Act, saying that the government is failing to provide a clear direction for the economy.

The Green Party’s vice chairman also accused the economy minister of being more of a lobbyist for the return to expensive fossil gas rather than a driver of progress and a future for the economy. Audretsch’s comments come as major economic associations are already expressing concern and hesitation in the market, citing the government’s rapid introduction of economic chaos.

In a letter to the government, the leading energy industry associations complained of a great deal of uncertainty about the government’s course on the energy transition. Audretsch believes that no government and no economy minister has ever managed to create such economic chaos in such a short time, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
