Ducksch Set for Birmingham City Move

Marvin Ducksch is reportedly on the verge of a transfer from SV Werder Bremen to English second-tier club Birmingham City. According to reports from “Kicker”, the 31-year-old striker is believed to have bid farewell to his Bremen teammates earlier on Tuesday, signaling the likely progression of the move.

The transfer to England is expected to be finalized in the near future. Ducksch previously indicated a potential departure in May, following Werder Bremen’s final Bundesliga match, suggesting it “could have been my last game”. The agreement is said to include a three-year contract for the attacker, with a transfer fee estimated around €2 million plus potential performance-based bonuses.

Birmingham City, a club with a rich history, has recently seen significant investment, partly fueled by the involvement of former NFL star Tom Brady, who became a minority owner in 2023. The club, which secured promotion from the third tier last season, is actively seeking to return to the Premier League.

Ducksch joined Werder Bremen from Hannover 96 in 2021 and established himself as a prolific goalscorer. He was instrumental in their promotion-winning season in 2021/22, scoring 20 goals. Over the subsequent three Bundesliga campaigns, he tallied a total of 32 goals. The player missed the entirety of the summer preparation period due to a calf injury and a return to full training with Werder Bremen is not anticipated.
