Danish authorities reported further drone sightings overnight targeting multiple airports and a military airbase, escalating concerns about security at critical infrastructure. The incidents affected the airports in Aalborg, Esbjerg and Sønderborg, as well as an air force base, according to official statements.
Aalborg Airport was temporarily closed as a precautionary measure following the observations. Police confirmed the last confirmed sighting of an active drone occurred around 1:00 AM. Authorities stated they were unable to intercept and disable the drones. A search for the operator(s) of the devices is currently underway.
These recent events follow a similar disruption earlier this week when Copenhagen Airport was shut down for several hours due to unidentified drone activity. The previous incident prompted a strong reaction from Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who described it as the most significant attack to date on Denmark’s critical infrastructure. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and motive behind these incidents.
