Dow Plummets 800 Points After Trump's Tariff Threat!

US stock markets declined on Thursday. The Dow Jones was calculated at 44,711 points, a gain of 0.8 percent compared to the previous trading day.

Minutes earlier, the broader S&P 500 had reached around 6,110 points, a 1.0 percent increase, while the technology-based Nasdaq calculated the Nasdaq 100 at around 22,030 points, a 1.4 percent gain.

US President Donald Trump signed another decree on Thursday, introducing counter-tariffs. This will increase tariffs on all goods to at least the level of those demanded by the exporting countries themselves when importing. The US stock markets reacted little to the signing, as the step was likely already factored in after the announcement of the tariffs at the beginning of the week.

The European common currency was stronger on Thursday evening: one euro cost 1.0462 US dollars and one dollar was worth 0.9558 euros.

The gold price profited, with 2,929 US dollars paid for one fine ounce (+0.9 percent) at the evening, equivalent to a price of 90.01 euros per gram.

Meanwhile, the oil price declined slightly: a barrel of the North Sea Brent type cost around 75.15 US dollars at Thursday evening, three cents less than at the close of the previous trading day.
