Doubts Arise as Dobrindt Promises Tougher Migration Policies

Former Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) doubts that the designated Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) can immediately after his appointment implement a tougher approach in migration policy. Buschmann told the “Rheinische Post” (Monday): “I am very curious to see to what extent the announcements of the opposition politician Dobrindt will match the actions of the Interior Minister Dobrindt.” Dobrindt had stated that decisions would be made as early as next Wednesday. To the “Bild am Sonntag” he said that border controls would be intensified and the number of refusals would be increased. However, he stated that there would be no border closures.
