Dortmund Signs Chelsea’s Chukwuemeka

Borussia Dortmund has secured the permanent transfer of midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea FC. The 21-year-old player, who previously spent a loan period with Dortmund during the latter half of last season and the Club World Cup, has signed a contract with the German club that is valid until June 30, 2030, the club announced Tuesday.

Borussia Dortmund’s Managing Director, Lars Ricken, stated that strengthening the offensive midfield with added quality and creativity was a key objective for the transfer. He expressed the club’s delight in securing a talent like Chukwuemeka on a long-term basis and highlighted their commitment to fostering his development.

Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl added that Chukwuemeka possesses “huge potential” demonstrated during his loan spell. He emphasized the player’s ability to find solutions in tight spaces and the additional technical ability he brings to the Dortmund midfield.

Chukwuemeka made 17 competitive appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season, scoring one goal and will continue to wear the number 17 shirt.
