Dortmund Dominates Leverkusen Draws

Borussia Dortmund secured a significant home victory in the Champions League, defeating Athletic Bilbao 4-1, while Bayer Leverkusen settled for a 1-1 draw against PSV Eindhoven after initially taking the lead.

Leverkusen appeared poised for success when Christian Kofane capitalized on a defensive error to put his team ahead in the 65th minute. However, the lead proved short-lived as Ismael Saibari leveled the score with a precise shot into the far corner just seven minutes later (72nd minute). Despite a tense and energetic finish, neither side could find the decisive goal, resulting in a shared point.

Dortmund enjoyed a considerably more successful evening. Daniel Svensson opened the scoring for BVB in the 28th minute following a flowing attack involving Adeyemi. Carney Chukwuemeka extended the lead shortly after the interval, making it 2-0 in the 50th minute. Athletic Bilbao responded through Guruzeta in the 61st minute, but Serhou Guirassy added to Dortmund’s advantage with a deflected shot in the 82nd minute. Julian Brandt then sealed the victory with a goal in added time (90+1).

Dortmund’s result secured a positive start for the club in front of their home supporters, while Leverkusen missed an opportunity to claim their first win in this stage of the competition.
