German Chancellor’s Chief of Staff Calls for Direct Peace Talks between Iran, US and Israel
Germany is seeking to utilize every opportunity of diplomacy to find a solution to the conflict, according to Thorsten Frei, Chief of Staff to the German Chancellor, in an interview with the ARD-Hauptstadtstudio. He emphasized that the direct threat to Israel and the region as a whole has been evident, stating that the Iranian regime has primarily used the past years of talks to gain time.
Frei highlighted that the ultimate goal of the Mullah regime is to acquire nuclear weapons and develop medium-range missiles capable of delivering these weapons not only to the Near East, but also to Europe.
Germany aims to contribute to finding a good solution, working alongside the E3 states, the United Kingdom and France, as well as the United States, in the hope of avoiding further escalation, Frei said. However, he expressed uncertainty about the success of these efforts, stating that it is difficult to predict the outcome at this moment.
