Diesel prices across Germany have fallen to their lowest level in over two months, offering some relief to consumers. The average national price for a liter of diesel is currently 1.583 euros, a decrease of 2.2 cents compared to the previous week, according to a recent analysis published Wednesday by the German Automobile Club (ADAC). Meanwhile, the price of a liter of Super E10 gasoline has decreased slightly, by 0.5 cents and currently averages 1.663 euros.
The ADAC attributes the decline in fuel prices, in part, to lower crude oil benchmark prices. Brent crude oil is currently trading at approximately 66 US dollars per barrel, roughly two dollars less than the price recorded last week. A strengthening Euro against the US dollar is also contributing to the easing of fuel costs.
The price difference between Super E10 and diesel currently stands at eight cents per liter, wider than observed in recent weeks. Two months ago, when diesel prices were at a similar level and crude oil prices were comparable to current figures, diesel was approximately twelve cents cheaper than Super E10.
