French international Ousmane Dembélé was awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or on Monday evening at a ceremony held at the Théatre du Chatelet in Paris. The Paris Saint-Germain forward claimed the title, recognizing his exceptional performance throughout the previous season.
Dembélé played a pivotal role in PSG’s successful campaign, contributing to victories including the Champions League title and the domestic double. He secured the award ahead of fellow contenders such as Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona and his PSG teammate, Vitinha. The winger recorded an impressive 35 goals in 53 appearances during the 2024/25 season, further solidifying his claim to the honor with two crucial assists in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Luis Enrique, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, also received the award for best coach, triumphing over a strong field including former German national team manager, Hansi Flick. In the women’s category, Aitana Bonmatí of FC Barcelona secured the Ballon d’Or for the third consecutive year.
The Ballon d’Or, an accolade presented annually since 1956 by the French football magazine “France Football”, recognizes the most outstanding football players of the preceding season.
