German exports to countries outside the European Union decreased by 0.8 percent in calendar and seasonally adjusted terms in December 2024 compared to November 2024. According to preliminary results released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday, the value of goods exported to non-EU countries in December 2024 was approximately 58.8 billion euros, calendar and seasonally adjusted.
In unadjusted terms, the value of goods exported to non-EU countries in December 2024 was 51.9 billion euros, a 3.4 percent decline compared to the same month in 2023.
The United States remained the most important trading partner for German exporters in December 2024, with goods worth 11.5 billion euros being shipped to the country. This represents a 1.1 percent increase compared to December 2023. Exports to China, on the other hand, decreased by 16.1 percent to 6.1 billion euros, while exports to the United Kingdom fell by 13.0 percent to 5.2 billion euros.
Russia, once a significant trading partner for Germany, saw its exports decline by 20.7 percent in December 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, with the value of goods shipped to the country amounting to approximately 0.4 billion euros. In December 2024, Russia ranked 24th among the most important destinations for German exports outside the EU, a significant drop from its fifth-place ranking in February 2022, just before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
