Several government ministries have missed the deadline set by the Chancellor for finalizing the division of responsibilities among them. Administrative agreements, crucial for outlining operational details, remain outstanding between a number of departments, including the Finance and Digital Ministries, the Environment and Economy Ministries, the Environment and Construction Ministries and the Economy and Research Ministries.
This information was reported by “Der Spiegel”, citing multiple ministries.
The agreements were initially intended to be concluded by August 1st, with departments required to brief the Chancellery on specifics by that date. This requirement stems from the Chancellor’s organizational order issued on May 6th, which outlines departmental structures but leaves the granular details of directorates, competencies, positions and funding to be negotiated.
Ministries of Environment, Economy, Research and Education declined to provide a precise timeline for the ongoing negotiations. It appears a new deadline has been established, extending to October 1st. The Digital Ministry indicated in response to a written inquiry from Green Party politician Rebecca Lenhard that finalization of agreements with the Finance Ministry is not anticipated until the fourth quarter of the year.
