FC Bayern München and left-back Alphonso Davies have extended his contract until June 30, 2030. The club announced the news on Tuesday evening.
The 24-year-old Canadian national team player has been with the German record holder since the 2018/19 season, after moving from the Vancouver Whitecaps to Munich. Since then, he has played in 220 official matches, scoring 12 goals and providing 34 assists.
“We are very happy to have Alphonso Davies in our future” said Max Eberl, FC Bayern’s sports director, on the agreement. “Phonzy has been playing for the FC Bayern since he was 18 and has quickly become part of the team. We consider him one of the characters in the new generation of our team, who are increasingly taking on responsibility. He has grown up here – and he will continue to grow with the team.”
Davies himself expressed his satisfaction: “I am very happy to have extended my contract with this great club. I came to the FC Bayern at 18 and just wanted to learn as much as possible every day to become one of the best at my position. Now, I’m looking forward to the next five years together. I’ve already achieved a lot here – but there’s still more to come.
