A Copenhagen FC advanced to the Conference League’s quarterfinals after a thrilling comeback in the second leg against 1. FC Heidenheim. The Danish team equalized the aggregate score and secured their spot in the next round with a 3-1 win in extra time, despite the intense efforts of the host team.
Copenhagen’s offense, well-coordinated and precise, decided the game. In the first half, the visitors from Copenhagen skillfully created scoring opportunities. In the 37th minute, Amin Chiakha’s header found the net and the host team struggled to cope with the constant pressure, eventually accepting a 0-1 deficit at halftime.
After the break, Copenhagen continued to press and in the 53rd minute, a penalty was awarded, which Kevin Diks converted with confidence, building a 2-0 lead for the Danish club. Heidenheim, however, showed resilience and attempted to turn the game around. A directly taken free-kick by Leonardo Scienza in the 73rd minute brought the score to 1-2, reducing the deficit, but keeping the game open.
The match remained in the balance until the end, with both coaches making numerous substitutions. While Heidenheim tried to close the gap, Copenhagen found openings in the opposing defense and in the extra time, Rodrigo Huescas scored the decisive goal in the 114th minute, securing the path to the quarterfinals.
