Daimler Truck, a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles, announced plans to reduce approximately 5,000 positions in Germany by 2030. The company revealed the restructuring during its recent capital markets day held in Charlotte.
These job cuts will be offset by relocating roles to countries offering more favorable cost structures, according to the announcement. Daimler Truck emphasized a commitment to a socially responsible transition, detailing an agreement reached with the General Works Council. This agreement incorporates strategies such as leveraging natural attrition and expanded early retirement programs, alongside targeted severance packages.
The workforce reductions are part of a broader “efficiency program” designed to generate savings exceeding one billion euros across Europe by 2030. The program aims to streamline operations and bolster the company’s competitive positioning within the evolving commercial vehicle landscape.
