A senior leader of the Christian Social Union’s (CSU) Landesgruppe, Alexander Dobrindt, has expressed his views on the potential composition of a future government led by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
Dobrindt emphasized the importance of a regularly convened coalition committee, which would serve as a central steering element to prevent blockages between ministries. He cited the experience of the previous Social Democratic-Green-Left (SPD-Grüne-Linke) government, where the ministries worked extensively against each other, as a reason for the need of such a mechanism.
The CSU leader also spoke of the necessity of a “new work style” in the future government, starting with the coalition agreement. He advocated for clear goal agreements rather than lengthy and rigid contracts. According to Dobrindt, the coalition agreement should be a living document, constantly being filled with life, rather than a static contract that hinders progress for years to come.
Initially, the common goals should be formulated immediately after the election, he said and then the work would progress quickly. Dobrindt expressed his desire for a coalition agreement that is not just superficially agreed upon, but continuously shaped and developed.
