Before the CSU state group meeting in Seeon, party vice Manfred Weber demanded an end to the discussion on possible coalitions after the Bundestag election.

“It’s smart not to lead coalition debates now, but to fight for a strong Union result” Weber told the Funke Media Group newspapers. “Economic performance, combating irregular migration, more security, and a comprehensive de-bureaucratization.” Germany needs a political change after the failure of the Ampel coalition.

CSU leader Markus Söder had increasingly clearly spoken out against a coalition with the Greens in the past weeks.
