Crisis Deepens as Support Plummets

According to the latest survey by the Insa Institute, the Union’s voter support has fallen below the psychologically significant mark of 30 percent for the first time since July last year. All other major opinion research institutes still have the CDU and CSU at 30 percent or more.

If the federal election were to take place this Sunday, the Union would, according to the survey published on the “Bild” website on Saturday, receive 29 percent of the vote (-1 point compared to the previous week). The AfD is also losing a point and would get 21 percent. The SPD remains unchanged at 16 percent, the Greens unchanged at 13 percent.

The winners are the BSW (7 percent), the FDP (5 percent), and the Left (4 percent), all of which have gained one percentage point. The “Others” have lost a point and are at 5 percent. The survey was conducted from January 13 to 17 and polled 1,206 people.
