The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a safe maximum speed of 100 km/h on roads where both side and front collisions are excluded. On road sections where there is a risk of collisions between cars and unprotected road users, such as pedestrians, a speed of 30 kilometers per hour is recommended. The World Health Organization also highlights the benefits of structural measures, such as pedestrian and cycling paths, increased pedestrian overpasses, roundabouts and narrowed road sections.
