The German government’s Commissioner for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Gitta Connemann of the CDU party, has remained unfazed by a recent television appearance by constitutional law expert Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf.
Connemann, speaking to RTL and ntv television stations, stated that the jurist’s suggestion of potentially withdrawing her candidacy for a position on the Federal Constitutional Court does not expedite the resolution of the ongoing disagreement within the governing coalition. She emphasized that such a matter is not resolved through media appearances or public discourse, but rather through direct discussions between the coalition partners: the SPD, CDU and CSU.
The State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs characterized the personnel selection process as having become overly emotionalized. She asserted that a resolution cannot be reached through public pronouncements and underscored the importance of confidential dialogue. Referencing Chancellor Merz, Connemann insisted that these conversations must occur directly between the three coalition factions.
