The EU Commissioner for Youth and Culture, Glenn Micallef, has announced a intergenerational fairness strategy. “As a crucial part of the European Union’s intergenerational fairness strategy, we will also develop an intergenerational fairness index – because what can’t be measured, can’t be improved” Micallef told the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Thursday editions).
“Today marks the start of the European Union’s first intergenerational fairness strategy. Intergenerational fairness is not about young versus old or future versus present, but about togetherness, not against each other” the EU Commissioner explained.
For the development of the EU strategy, an online platform for public participation will be published next week, according to the Commissioner. “Intergenerational fairness concerns everyone.” Therefore, the EU will start with the public participation platform next week, allowing all European citizens to engage in this topic, Micallef said.
