A moderate-strength earthquake struck Colombia on Sunday, initially reported to have a magnitude of 6.3 by geologists, a value that may be later revised.
The quake occurred at 8:08 a.m. local time, or 3:08 p.m. in Germany, in the central region of the country, approximately 100 kilometers west of the capital, Bogotá. The nearby cities of Cumaral, Monterrey and Puerto López were also affected by the earthquake.
The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and as of the latest reports, there were no immediate accounts of damage or casualties. Earthquakes of this magnitude can cause damage in a radius of up to 70 kilometers.
