Germany’s leading social association, SoVD, has urged the governing coalition parties to demonstrate effective leadership during their current closed-door meeting in Würzburg. Michaela Engelmeier, Chairperson of the SoVD’s executive board, stated in comments published by the Funke Media Group newspapers that citizens rightfully expect solutions and forward-looking strategies, rather than obstruction and public disputes. She emphasized the need to avoid a repeat of perceived past failures in delivering policy.
The SoVD asserts the federal government now bears the responsibility for overcoming current stagnation. Rather than further declarations of intent, Engelmeier argues that concrete action is required. This includes reforming the pension, healthcare and care systems, investing in affordable housing and implementing equitable tax policies.
Engelmeier stressed the urgency of addressing significant policy challenges, stating that critical issues can no longer be postponed. She called for a clear roadmap and a firm commitment to consistent implementation to build confidence and deliver tangible results for the public.
