Augsburg Set to Appoint New Coach as Wagner Takes the Helm
Reports suggest that Sandro Wagner, the former co-trainer of the German national team, is poised to take over as the new head coach of FC Augsburg, replacing Jess Thorup.
According to the reports, Wagner will first complete his duties with the national team in the Nations League before joining the Bundesliga club. The 43-year-old has previously managed SpVgg Unterhaching, leading the team to promotion to the 3rd division in 2023.
Thorup and the club’s former sport director, Marinko Jurendic, were recently let go, with the club citing the need for a new direction and development strategy.
