Christian Lindner's Masterstroke?

A prominent Free Democratic Party (FDP) leader, Christian Lindner, has outlined a “100-Day Program” in the event of the party’s re-entry into government. “What the country needs, I could accomplish with a law” Lindner told the German news magazine Focus.

According to Lindner, this law would radically dismantle bureaucracy by repealing entire laws, including the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, the Working Hours Act and the Sustainability Reporting Act. Lindner literally said, “I would simply get rid of everything. And no one would miss it.”

As a second measure, he would increase the basic tax allowance by €1,000, abolish the solidarity surcharge and shift the income tax rate a little to the right. His third point is a comprehensive overhaul of Germany’s climate policy: “I would completely dismantle it and move the German climate goal five years back to 2050” Lindner said. “The climate goal of 2045 is ruining us without helping the world. That’s what I’ve described with my 100-Day Program.”

Lindner is also campaigning for a black-yellow government as the “best coalition for our country.” He trusts the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) under Friedrich Merz to implement reform policies that were not possible under former Chancellor Angela Merkel. “She was always a Grand Coalition politician in her head, before she ultimately developed into a green in the face of the refugee crisis.
