Ceasefire Breakthrough: US to Unleash Military Aid as Ukraine Agrees to 30-Day Truce

After hours of negotiations between the Ukrainian and US delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the first results have been announced. The United States will resume military aid to Ukraine immediately and in return, Kiev will support the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.

According to a joint statement released by the Ukrainian Presidential Administration, the statement reads: “Ukraine has agreed to accept the US proposal to impose a temporary, preliminary ceasefire of 30 days, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties and must be accepted and implemented by the Russian Federation.”

The US will also “immediately lift the suspension of intelligence information exchange” and “resume security assistance to Ukraine” the statement added.

Kiev and Washington announced that they will name their negotiation teams and start talks on a “permanent peace” that would “ensure the long-term security of Ukraine.” The US said it would discuss these concrete proposals with Russian representatives. The Ukrainian delegation confirmed that European partners will be involved in the peace process, the statement said.

The statement concludes by expressing the intention of both sides to “conclude a comprehensive agreement on the development of Ukraine’s significant natural resources as soon as possible, to develop Ukraine’s economy, offset the costs of American aid and ensure the long-term well-being and security of Ukraine.
