CDU Vice Karin Prien Disputes Low Trust in Merz Among Women.
In an interview with the “New Osnabrücker Zeitung” (NOZ), CDU Vice Karin Prien described the low trust in Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz among women as unjustified. “This is certainly not least due to the campaign of our political competitors, who deliberately want to portray him as someone who does not stand for the interests of women” she said. However, this does not reflect the reality, Prien continued. “Friedrich Merz clearly stands for the equal participation of women and men” she emphasized, pointing out the introduction of the women’s quota in the CDU under his leadership as an example.
Prien called on women to not let themselves be swayed by external impressions or campaigns when making their voting decision. As a colleague of Merz in the federal executive, Prien highlighted that the party chairman has set clear priorities for the balance of family and work and the promotion of full-time work, which support women. “This is more than the symbolic politics of other parties” she said.
