CDU Unveils Plan to Save City's Commuters a Bundle!

A Berlin CDU plans to introduce a cost-effective parking solution for drivers coming from outer districts to the city center, the party’s faction leader, Dirk Stettner, told the Tagesspiegel newspaper in its Monday edition. The plan is based on a completely new concept for parking space management, aiming to benefit “tradespeople, commuters, and those who need a vignette for multiple parking zones, and those who currently have to pay a lot to park” Stettner said.

As part of the plan, the CDU politician hinted at a fee increase for resident parking. “Of course, the price for residents won’t remain at 10.20 euros per year” Stettner stated, without providing specific price suggestions. However, the new concept is expected to generate higher revenue for the state as a whole.

Stettner expressed confidence that the existing parking space could be used more efficiently in many areas. “We have enough areas in Berlin where one can park during the day because the residents are out and about then. Exactly when the commuter needs a parking spot, that’s when the resident isn’t there” he said to the Tagesspiegel.
