Thorsten Frei, the Minister of the Chancellor’s Office from the CDU, has expressed openness to discussing the abolition of the CDU’s non-cooperation rule with the Left Party. “We will have to discuss this together” Frei said on Wednesday in the RTL and ntv show “Frühstart”.
While the decision of the CDU’s party congress cannot be revoked with a stroke of a pen, “we are definitely in a situation where we need to reevaluate some questions” explained the Minister of the Chancellor’s Office.
During the federal election, the CDU once again faced the problem of not being able to organize a two-thirds majority. Now, Frei says, it’s about pragmatic solutions for the country. “The well-being of the country is always more important than party interests.
