CDU Leader Targets Green Youth Leader Over 'ACAB' Sweater

German politician Julia Klöckner, the President of the German Bundestag, has written a letter to the political director of the Green party, Pegah Edalatian, urging the revocation of a parliamentary pass and effectively imposing a ban on the Green Youth’s Bundessprecherin, Jette Nietzard, from entering the Bundestag.

The move follows a social media post by Nietzard, in which she wore a “ACAB” (All Cops Are Bastards) t-shirt with the caption “On my way to the Bundestag.” Klöckner described the post as a deliberate provocation and warned of a possible violation of the Bundestag’s house rules, should such attire be worn in the parliamentary premises. A violation could result in a fine and the revocation of the pass was not ruled out.

Nietzard’s pass, categorized as “Green” was issued by the party upon request. Klöckner requested that the party’s faction inform Nietzard of her legal situation and consider revoking the pass application.

Alexander Throm, the internal affairs spokesperson of the Union’s Bundestag faction, commented, “No apology for the police means no insight. And then, still, all Bundestag members are belittled. Now, Nietzard must be expelled from the party. Otherwise, Özdemir and co. lack credibility.” He argued that anyone who attacks the police, whether physically or verbally, is attacking the state. A Green party spokesperson confirmed receipt of the letter and announced that a response would be issued within the usual timeframe.
