Just days after the announcement of Union’s chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, the Union and AfD are gaining in popularity, according to a survey by the Institute Insa, reported by the “Bild” (Tuesday edition).
If the Bundestag election were held on Sunday, the CDU/CSU would come in at 30 percent, a point higher than last week. The AfD gains half a point to 22 percent. In contrast, the SPD (15.5 percent) and the Greens (12.5 percent) each lose half a percentage point. The FDP also loses half a point and would no longer be represented in the new Bundestag with 4.5 percent.
For the Insa opinion trend in the order of the “Bild”, a total of 2,006 people were surveyed from January 24 to 27, 2025.
