CDU Aims to Boost Ground Presence in Germany Ahead of Key State Elections

The CDU plans to increase its presence in the coming years. This was stated by Carsten Linnemann, the General Secretary of the CDU, after the party’s meetings in Berlin on Monday. He said, “We will develop concepts to make the party more visible on the ground – not only in the east but overall. There are simply areas in Germany where there are no more state or federal parliamentarians and we have to ask ourselves: how can we become more visible?” That is why they are currently conducting a voter analysis. “We will draw conclusions from this, especially in terms of structures” Linnemann added. He also mentioned that they will discuss the analysis at a presidium meeting in the early autumn and that important conclusions will be drawn, as there are five important state elections next year.
