Catastrophic Collapses Claim Lives, Leave Trail of Destruction

Russian Border Regions Hit by Bridge Collapses, Leaving Multiple Fatalities

In a tragic turn of events, the Russian border regions of Bryansk and Kursk witnessed the collapse of two bridges over the weekend, resulting in the loss of several lives.

According to the Governor of Bryansk, Alexander Bogomaz, an explosion on Saturday evening led to the collapse of a bridge spanning a railway track, causing a passenger train to derail in the aftermath. The incident claimed at least seven lives and left 69 others injured.

Just a few hours later, a similar bridge collapse was reported in the Kursk region, where a freight locomotive was passing over the structure at the time of the incident. Although there were no reported fatalities, the train’s occupants were taken to local hospitals, according to official statements.

Both bridge collapse sites are situated in the vicinity of the Russian-Ukrainian border.
