BVB’s Maximilian Beier sets sights on Germany’s A-team comeback
The striker has set a personal goal for the second half of the season, aiming to make a comeback to the German national team. “That’s at least my personal goal for the second half of the season” Beier told the Kicker. He also hopes to help the BVB have a successful year in the Champions League and said it’s crucial to secure a top-four finish in the Bundesliga.
Beier acknowledged that it took him some time to adjust to his new team, saying, “I needed a bit of a start.” However, he added that he now has a good understanding with his teammates, both on and off the pitch, and that the team has stuck together even in difficult times. “We’ve been together as a team, no one has given up” he said.
The 25-year-old has been playing for Dortmund since the start of the season, having previously played for TSG Hoffenheim. He was initially called up to the German national team in March 2024, but did not feature in a match. He was later nominated for the European Championship in May 2024 and made his debut in the third group match against Switzerland, having previously played in a friendly against Ukraine.
